When I was in Maktab I could imagine myself being a teacher, but once in UM the thought was losing its magic. I guess with the hustle and bustle of a University student, I just lost touch.
But, today’s class had re – strengthen my thought. Seeing the pictures and hearing to their situation made me want to be a teacher. I want to help these pupils. I want to show them that learning is fun. I want them to enjoy their primary years with the magic of books and technology. What I have learnt in these four years of training is something that I want to share.

Plus I want the adventure of the Sarawak has to offer. Hehehe. Actually I don’t mind going to school on boats and shaking bridges. It will be a new experience for me. I have spent most of my life near home; I guess there is no harm for a little bird like me to move out of her cosy nest.

Prof. had questioned us – Should curriculum drive the technology or should technology drive the curriculum?
I think it is best if the curriculum drive the technology. Technology is huge; it would be a burden for educators to use it to drive the curriculum.
By using the curriculum we can set goals that the technology can help us in achieving. We will be able to set goals that are suited according to pupils’ level and needs. From here we can see that planning is very important. Through a planned curriculum we can integrate technology. We use technology as a tool to spice up teaching and learning.
The 5 Ps of ICT Integration in Teaching and Learning are quite useful when dealing with ICT.
- prepare
-preview
-present
-practice
-post - test
I feel that these 5 steps are quite easy to follow. They are simple steps that can help to demolish a teacher’s fear when dealing with ICT. These steps can hep a teacher to develop effective techniques that enhances instructions, improves classroom management and meet the needs of diverse pupils in a classroom.
