assignment..!!!!

Why am I so sacred to just go in front try out the examples shown? I want to but... I don’t know… Maybe I’m just lazy… The ideas for the examples are quite easy. I am laughing at myself cause when I did the assignment on Smart board I was actually cracking my head trying to figure out an interesting activity. Well I guess it comes with experiences … maybe I need more exposure before I would just create an activity in few hours or minutes. About the current assignment, I guess that I’m lazing around, as I know the holidays are around. These few weeks in UM are quite tense and I am sure that the weeks to come are much worse. I am hoping that I will start as soon as possible. But I would have to read up on Chapter 1 first. I’m quite lost but ‘m sure once start I will have questions regarding the assignment. So till then, have fun…

PoEIT...?

Hello… Sorry… for this late reflection on PoEIT… So this is what I have to say… In my understanding, the day’s lesson was to remind us that changes in the learning styles are happening whether we like it or not. I feel that in Maktab we were drill with this. To me, I think – I can say this – that after 4 year in Maktab it is very clear to us that teaching and learning should focus on the students. The teachers’ focus should be on the students’ needs, learning styles, and etc. So, what I think we lack is the ways a teacher can make hers/his teaching more of a student centred. I want to be familiar with the ways before I beginning my teaching years. Ahhh… this reminds me about the issue of an excellent teacher. I feel that to be an excellent teacher is quite impossible. I don’t think everyone can do this. We are humans and you have to agree with me if I say that humans are not prefect. But, I feel that the issues here should be more on how do we – teachers to be, make positive changes in...

Heard of fish philosophy...?

Ahhh…we can’t save the assignment into the CD. What to do now? Whylah I don’t have my own CD burner…? This was what actually happened at the beginning of the day’s lesson …sorry but I have to confess that I was not concentrating at first… Luckily we had help... Thanks to that sweet person… So once it was settle, I turned from the computer to the lecturer… She was actually throwing fishes around the class… I was lost and confused. “What is going on with Dr. Raja Maznah? Is this some kind of self-expression? Hmmm… When the lecturer introduced the day’s topic – “Fish Philosophy”, I was wondering – What has fish philosophy got to do with a teacher? But before that, I feel that the lesson was different. It’s not everyday that fishes get throw around in a class…(lucky they were just toys). It was fun. But sad to say that only after being prompted by Dr. we started to throw the fishes around the class. I guess we are losing the child in us, that’s sad… maybe because we are so used to listenin...

Technology can support a vision but it cannot be the vision

Ahhh…. there is so much to think about when doing assignment. The colour of the font used, the placement and etc. Well, after listening to the comments and the rational behind it – it does sound reasonable. Well, falling back to theory, everything we do as teacher does affect the pupils’ understanding of the lesson. Maybe the holidays made me forget it. So far I’m still working on the assignment, hopefully it turns out to be good. For this week’s topic – “Technology can support a vision but it cannot be the vision”, I feel that that this topic is a question that most teacher face when dealing with technology. I feel that this statement tell us that technology is a tool that we teacher can use to enhance our teaching but it is not what our aims are. Our aim in to educated pupils and to do so we use the help of technology. Like the example, that was given in class where the teacher uses technology to capture pupils’ interest. When I was teaching as a part time teacher in a secon...

4TH WEEK

Hello This week we were given the time to do our assignment. In my case, I was looking through the examples that we saved the previous week. It’s really amazing, what this IWB can do. My group member and I divided the work. Each of us is to prepare one material. I’m to prepare an English material. Well I’m still working with my idea. I am planning to integrate “Gradually diminishing control”. This principle has more to do with writing. Hmmm I’m still working on it. Hopefully by tonight I’ll have a better idea .

DIGITAL CITIZENS VS. DIGITAL IMMIGRANTS

Hello Ok first I would like to apologise that it took me more than a week to write this week’s blog. To tell everyone the truth, this whole UM thingy is a cultural shocked. I just am having difficulties keeping up with the workload. So without wasting more time let me write down what I have to say about Digital Citizen vs. Digital Immigrants. I was not very clear with the two terms so I went on net to clarify my ideas. While doing so I come across this article “Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants” by Marc Prensky. {Those interested to read it, plz visit http://www.marcprensky.com/writing/Prensky%20-%20Digital%20Natives,%20Digital%20Immigrants%20-%20Part1.pdf }. It a very interesting article and moreover it helps us understand the two terms based on education aspect. In the article, Prensky makes it clearly what the two terms mean. {But, in the article digital citizen is substituted with digital natives}. Digital natives: “Today’s students … represent the first generations to grow up wi...

2nd blog

This week’s class was brilliant. I am amazed with the technology we have, in this case the SMARTBOARD. I’m just amazed with it that I couldn’t care less of things happening around the class. I am also happy with the way the class was handled that day. As we were introduced to the board before the day’s session, I doubted whether all of us would get the change to at least touch the board. But I was wrong. I feel that every one of us had the change. The introduction section carried out by En. Ahmad was well organized. It was like taking baby steps with a well – skilled father. I have to admit that I was just over – excited when I saw that the software was actually already in our computer and we could do somewhat the same thing by using the mouse instead of our fingers. So, while En. Ahmad was briefing us I had the change to do the same thing on the computer but of course by using the mouse. It was fun being able to do what was being taught step by step. And the best part was yet to come ...
